    Features:
50 vehicles at the initial release. Starting from 1850 till today. There will be carriages, horse street cars, 30 trains and more than 10 buses, trucks and streetcars each.
Ships, aircraft's and trolley buses will not be available in the initial release.
There will be tools to handle repetitive tasks e.g. a tool which allows to replace all locomotives of a certain type, age or reliability.
    Trains are expandable.
The platform length can be set when building the station. If the train is longer than the platform, junctions in front of the station can in fact be blocked. Also, loading and unloading will take longer.
Railroad track will be available from 1905.
Electric trams will be available from 1881.
The Lifespan is counting down from the time you buy a locomotive. Currently it only affects the running costs of a train. Is the lifespan reached, then the running costs are going to increase and will trouble the player.
The depots can be built anywhere on a track, the train/bus/truck/tram is then going to the first stop and starting his routine.
Trucks are also available to deliver cargo.
Trains will not pass through each other.
Buses will wait at a stop till the previous bus moves further. This will prevent a bus from a traffic jam. You’re able to send the bus back to depot and start his route manually later on.

Train Fever is about transporting people and freight. There will be some types of people and their style will change across the decades as the game goes from 1850 to modern times.
For freight there will be goods, coal, wood, iron ore and oil. These raw materials are mined in several locations in the game world. Those materials are required by industries that will produce goods. The industries will only produce good if they get enough people (employees), then the goods are sent to commercial buildings, which will sells them to people.
People buy goods, work at the industries and have recreation time at parks and attractions.
    {http://www.train-fever.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/diagram_1.jpg}
People look for work places, commercial districts and recreation destinations. Freight items are sent by the producer to a destination which requires the respective item. In both cases the destination is chosen randomly within a certain maximal travelling time. The faster a destination is reachable, the more likely the destination is chosen. Once a destination is chosen, the person or freight item is transported on the fastest way to this destination. Of course, people and freight can change transportation vehicles and can be temporarily stored at stations on the way to the destination.
When will towns grow and industries increase production?
Residential districts grow if a lot of industry, commercial buildings and attractions can be reached as fast as possible.
Commercial districts grow if as many people as possible pass by for shopping and if as many goods items are delivered by industries.
Industries grow if they get enough required raw materials and employees.
Leisure locations grow if as many people as possible pass by for recreation.
Mines and refineries increase raw material production if they find enough industries to deliver their items and if delivery is as fast as possible.

The maps are procedural generated. The seed is usually a random number, but can also be set by the player. In the initial version, there won’t be a map editor but that can be added in the future.
The main elements are hills, rivers, lakes, forests, rocks and fields. The terrain is dynamic and gets automatically updated / aligned during the game (e.g. when constructing railroad tracks).
The game world and landscape is of European expression. There is no desert of savanna in the initial release. The current plan includes weather changes from time to time (mainly to make the game visually more attractive), but it’s not planned to take into account the time of the year.

    Features:
Parallel tracks (multiple). Auto and fixed slope build mode. New tracks automatically snap to existing ones. Standard tracks with and without catenary can be arbitrarily combined with high speed tracks.
Block and path signals. Old and modern. As soon as a train crosses a block signal, all tracks behind the signal are blocked for other trains. Path signals work similar but block only the tracks behind the signal which are actually used by the train. This allows for realistic switch configurations e.g. in front of train stations.
    Standard and high speed tracks.
    With and without catenary (electricity).
Tunnels with one or multiple tracks.
    Bridges.
Switches that can be build everywhere.
    Street crossings.
    Drag and drop user interface.
Track sections can also be upgraded with newer electric or high-speed tracks.
By default, tracks align to the terrain elevation. However, it’s also possible to build tracks with a fixed slope. This can be useful for e.g. overcoming a certain difference in altitude with a constant slope. In order to allow the construction of sophisticated railroad lines, there are some visual layers which show the contour lines of the terrain for instance.

    Streetcar tracks.
    Traffic lights at crossings
Exclusive tracks (where cars are not allowed to drive) can only be built on four-lane roads (similar to bus lanes). Trolley buses and one way roads are not planned for the initial release.
